Matt Mullenweg, co-founder of WordPress in his annual “State of the Word” presentation during the San Francisco Word Camp in which he gives all of us a snapshot of how WordPress is doing.

How We Use It – 69% of people using WordPress are using it as a fully-fledged CMS, as opposed to a simple blogging platform. This percentage is up 8% since 2011. 7% of people use WordPress as an application platform.

Who Knows About It – Based on a survey done by WP Engine, it was found that 29% of people know what WordPress is.

Who Uses It – WordPress now powers 23.2% of the internet, up 4.3% from last year. Over the past 12 month, WordPress was downloaded a total of 46 million times.

WordPress is FREE — software and can be installed in 5 minutes or less. If you have the knowledge, time, skills etc. to then customize your WordPress site into exactly what you need, wonderful. If you don’t then you need the assistance of a WordPress expert (me) to develop, customize your WordPress site to be exactly what you want/need in every way.
